Broomstick

Broomstick was the second band I played in. I think I was around 15 years old. I played the drums. My father used to drive me every friday evening and Sunday afternoon to a very small village (Erzhausen) where we rehearsed in an old cellar. Before we rented into this dungeon, the owner used to grow mushrooms there. Lucky us!!

I rehearsed for about a year with three other guys: Bodo, the guitar player, was 30 years old. He played the guitar very well, but the booze played with him. Thanks to him, I got to know one of the best albums: The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking by Roger Waters, former singer of Pink Floyd.

The singer was Mr. "Feedback" Thomas, who later joined me again in Jacob Two-Two. The bass player was a 28-year-old guy from Poland. He was good. He used to earn his living with a show band. But I can forgive and forget. And we also had a keyboarder. Like Thomas, he was really into finding the ”right” sound.

After a year or so we still had only 4 or five songs and no motivation to carry on.
