Jacob Two-Two

Jacob Two-TwoThis was probably one of the finest band I have ever played in. In the picture you can see from left to right Kosta (bass), me, Angela (voc), Günter (keyb, harp, git) and Carsten (git). Oh, there's also the right arm and shoulder of our sound-engineer, Frank.

We started in 1987. Carsten and I got to know each other in a fencing club (how snobbish!). After playing once or twice in my parents' basement, I could convince Kosta, who had played the bass only for a short while, to join us. So we were what some may call a "power rock trio" ;-). Being too bad and too boring, we needed a singer. Thomas from my former band Broomstick joined us - for a while. Being worse and even more boring, Kosta talked to his friend Günter to come along for that extra sound.  Apart from being very kind, Günter could also play the harp, the bass, the guitar, keyboards etc. So we had quite a variety of sounds.

As Thomas was still trying to find his sound, fiddling at the knobs of his amplifier, producing some of the finest feedbacks I have ever heard, we came to the conclusion, that a new singer would, perhaps, bring a solution to this sound problem. And there she was: Angela.

We had had about 20 own songs when we split up in 1990, several gigs (incl. five evenings at the "Goldene Krone", Darmstadt) and really a lot of fun.

By the way, there was a very nice band named Jacob Two-Two from Ottawa, CDN. They came up with the cool band name (which derives from a children’s book by the late Canadian author Mordecai Richler) later than we ;-).
