I really loved this band! Die Kammer!

The Music:

Rahul (git), Enzio (drums), Lutz (git and voc) and Ansgar (bass) [from left to right in the photo] formed in 1992 in Würzburg for one of the most influential bands (on ourselves). Honestly, for all of us Die Kammer was probably a very good experience. Later on, Johannes replaced Rahul on the guitar. This added some "snobbish" touch to the band (have you ever driven to the rehearsal at the youth club in a red BMW convertible? We have!!!). But Johannes was good, too. I think "Die Kammer" owes him a lot for his honest being and the improvements to our music.

Here you can find some MP3’s from our demo CD “Never speak, never tell” (1994).

The Music:

Again, like in Broomstick and Jacob Two-Two, the band would only do songs written by the members. And this time, more daring sounds came to life. We had several pieces with screaming guitars and lots of noise. Still, of course, we wouldn't dare to leave the usual song structure (will I ever?). But hacking on your guitar with a screwdriver does give you a good feeling. So for a start, it really worked.

The Concerts:

We had several gigs in and around Würzburg. One of the best ones, though the shortest one, was at the "Wütival" in Summer 1994. We played only one song which we had written only for this occasion. At the Wütival, different groups, ranging from the field of theatre to rock bands, do one piece and leave the stage in a hurry to keep the flow of sometimes awful performances.

Our song was about the burning of witches performed in Würzburg a couple of hundred years ago. So, Ansgar played a very funny looking and sounding recorder, shaped like a walking stick (“Krummhorn”), and Enzio banged on his drums like in 1400 ad. In front of us on the edge of the stage, a prepared fire was supposed to burn during our song. Well, it did burn.

Actually better than expected. While I was playing one of my best guitar solos ever, the fire took a hold of the PVC floor of the stage, increasing the smoke to a really satanic cloud hovering above us. - Later on, we were sorry that we did not throw Enzio, who had his last gig with us, into the fire, which would have given us a remarkable echo in the local press.

By the way, we split up after a concert at the Monsters of Schmidt, December 23, 1994, because I moved away and Enzio was angry with us ;-)
